The Landscape Special Interest Group is dedicated to encouraging landscape photography and advancing the skills of its practitioners. Since its launch in 2016, the group has welcomed photographers of all levels, from beginners to experts, and offers a range of events, publications, and online platforms for members to share their work and collaborate with others.

Landscape photography has a long history and has become one of the most popular forms of photography, with techniques such as intentional camera movement, multiple exposures, and the use of filters allowing photographers to capture the ephemeral beauty of landscapes.

The Landscape Special Interest Group aims to spread understanding of these techniques through practical use and collaboration.

The group also produces a regular e-newsletter and a print magazine every 8 months, as well as offering opportunities for members to share their images through print and e-critique circles and a members-only Facebook Group.

Structures in the Landscape

Calling all photographers to explore the compelling dialogue between human-made structures and natural environments in our latest competition, "Structures in the Landscape."

We're looking for images that capture the fascinating relationship between architectural elements and their surrounding landscapes. Whether it's the geometric precision of wind turbines against a dramatic sky, the weathered romance of a seaside pier stretching into the horizon, or industrial structures reclaimed by nature – show us your unique perspective on how human engineering interfaces with the natural world.

“Landscape” photography is defined as the photographic portrayal of all elements of the land, sea and sky whether natural or built or influenced by human endeavour. Examples include mountains, hills, farmland, coasts, bodies of water, forests and populated and industrial areas. Images may be created using traditional or other techniques (including but not limited to infrared, multiple exposures, intentional camera movement, abstraction, minimalism and post-processing).
